Celebrating Kwanzaa

The Buffalo Bike community is made up of some of best people. Over 180 cyclists including a large contingent from the East Side Bike Club joined in GoBike’s annual Cranksgiving, the annual bike
scavenger hunt to collect shelf stable foods to donate to the efforts of Food Not Bombs, Provisions 139 and the Frank G. Merriweather Jr. Library Food Pantry.

4541 pounds of food was collected to help those groups care for our neighbors in these difficult times. We are glad the weather held out while all the riders safely made their collections and returned with such a great largesse.

Join us next year!
Even though we are headed quickly to fall, East Side Bike Club is still rolling. We defied some potentially threatening weather and made it out this past Saturday, making our own sunshine.
And we got doughnuts too. There is still plenty of time to get some riding in. If you want to enjoy the friendship of the East Side crew, just get your bike and come join us.
The annual Family Fishing Days in Freedom Park kicked off on Saturday with filled park full of families enjoying fishing, great food and a great time in the park. Our profound thanks to all the sponsors, donors, volunteers to put on this great event. Sunday is another day to come on down to enjoy, but here is some of the fun on Saturday, with our thanks to the Buffalo Challenger Newspaper for some of their photos.

Let’s make this summer an electric one
Buffalo United Front is preparing to host our 18th Family Fishing Day, which is the largest in New York State, taking place Saturday June 28th and Sunday June 29th 2025 from 10am to 3pm at Freedom Park (foot of Ferry).
This free event is designed to bring together families from across the Greater Buffalo Niagara Region, for a fun-filled day of fishing, picnicking and games. In previous years we had hundreds of people and volunteers come to the event. As a proponent of unity and peace, The Buffalo United Front is devoted to our mission of uplifting core values and promoting healthy family development. We feel the more proactive things we teach our young people, the less trouble they get in. It is through support from businesses and people like you that allow this mission to be realized. We need your help to ensure the Family Fishing Days is eventful and enjoyable. Your in-kind donation or monetary support indicated in the areas below will move B.U.F. closer to providing our community with another fun, safe and memorable summer event for kids of all ages and their parents. The requested donated items will be used for the following: prizes, raffles, silent auctions. Please specify below what area(s) you would like to receive your sponsorship.
To receive photos of this event that you helped make possible, and information about other Buffalo United Front programs and events, please include your email address or like us on Facebook. Thanks again for showing your commitment to making a difference in our local community.

If you have ever been on one of the area’s many great group bike rides, each one, including East Side Bike Club, has a group of volunteers dedicated to insuring the ride is a safe one for everybody. These folks use their bikes and themselves to block intersections so the group ride can stay safe and together. In bike circles, this is referred to as corking the intersection so traffic flow is stopped and the bike ride can safely pass.

The East Side Bike Club is looking for some additional bike enthusiasts to join us on our rides starting in May as “Corkers.” If you’d like to get involved, ride with some great people, and see more of the city, contact our Program Coordinator, Chris Lawson at 716-316-5341.
